SIEMENS interested in cooperation with Military University of Technology

On 5th March On 5th March 2015, in the Department of Mechanics and Computer Science, there took place a meeting with the representatives of Siemens Industry Software Sp. z o.o., the leading supplier of software and services (Product Lifecycle Management - PLM). The company is an organisational unit of Siemens Automation having its registered office in Plano, Texas. The company offers CAD/CAM/CAE/DM/PLM systems. During the meeting Siemens company was represented by Mr Mariusz Zabielski – Country Manager and Mr Marek Sobczyński - Enterprise Sale Executive. Our Department was represented by Prof. Tadeusz Niezgoda, Grzegorz Sławiński and Jolanta Maryewska.

The aim of the talks was proposition of cooperation areas between Siemens and Military University of Technology, including education area and supporting research and development projects, application of IT tools supporting designing and virtualization of outcomes.

Implementation of the proposed software may be mutually beneficial. On our part it is additional tools facilitating design and manufacturing of the selected elements of structures utilized in research projects and, at the same time, providing students with knowledge on servicing the programmes used by the market tycoon in everyday life, what is obviously beneficial for Siemens company as it significantly shorten time and costs of training a new staff.

Presentation of the interest area of our Department, implemented projects and ambitions for the future as well as the specialty Computer Techniques in Mechanical Engineering, existing within the Faculty of Engineering Mechanics, certainly constitute a favourable ground for implementation of the above mentioned solutions.

The Head of the Department of Mechanics and Computer Science, Prof. T. Niezgoda presented the achievements of the Department and the implemented projects and showed the guests round the Laboratory.

Expressing an interest in cooperation, the parties intend sign the Agreement on cooperation.
