Productive visit to Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa

On 15th November 2012, a delegation from the Department of Mechanics and Applied Computer Science, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Military University of Technology represented by Professor, D.Sc., Eng., Tadeusz Niezgoda, Ph.D., Eng., Danuta Miedzińska, Ph.D., Eng., Roman Gieleta and Ph.D., Eng., Grzegorz Sławiński was a guest at the quarter of the management of the hard coal mine “Budryk” pertinent to Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. During the meeting, the management was represented by, among others, Piotr Chmiel – the Director, Piotr Bojarski – the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Board for Innovative Implementations and Antoni Jakubów – the Manager of the Team for Natural Endanger. The Managers of Sections of Miners Ventilation, being the part of the company, also participated in the meeting.



The representatives of Military University of Technology presented the possibilities related to implementation of the method of extracting hydrocarbons by means of liquid CO2 in the overcritical state for demethaning of coal beds. The method was developed by the team of the Department of Mechanics and Applied Computer Science, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The proposed method consists in performing, ,directional small diametral (drainage) holes on different levels in the wall of the excavation in the bed, for example, from corridor affording and preparing excavations, pumping liquid CO2 into the holes and recovery of methane from the upper level of the holes. After the meeting with the management, the guests from MUT had the opportunity to go down by the 6th well in Chudowo (the name of the town) to B-10 wall in bed 358 located at the depth of 900 m and to be acquainted with the currently applied technologies of demethaning and the specificity of miners work.
